Autism dogs learn the same as Asperger Service Dogs but we often need to focus more on skills like tracking and finding the child, because children with Autism like to escape and will not be aware of any dangers. Daily activities become very challenging because social interactions of autistic children are severely limited and language learning is delayed or never acquired.

This means it can take many more hours to train a dog for Autism compared to a dog for Asperger Syndrome, if the child is not at risk to run away.

Each person is unique and the umbrella term “Autism Spectrum Disorders” covers Infantile/childhood Autism; Atypical Autism and Aspergers Syndrome.
